Shoulders: Elbows In

Standing, arms raised in front with elbows bent and hands out in a V, elbows moving toward each other

Stretching should be uncomfortable yet pain-free.

Dr. DeWitt recommends these stretches to his patients. If one hurts, stop.

How

  1. Stand or sit. Raise your arms in front of you, parallel with the floor, then bend your elbows to a 90-degree angle.
  2. Tip your hands outward, making a V shape from elbows to hands.
  3. Move the elbows toward each other until your shoulders or upper back are uncomfortable, and hold.
